Our vision
Combines Hi! (a greeting) and Death, symbolizing an attempt to meet death with openness, to greet it rather than fear it.
Using art, history, fashion, and literature as our media, we aim to give society more courage to discuss death—
to make this “invisible topic” seen,
and this “unspeakable fear” understood.

The Word “Death”
The Word “Death” in Asia Across Asia, the word “death” carries layers of silence, contradiction, and reverence.
Recent surveys across East and Southeast Asia reveal a shared discomfort:
In China, nearly 80% of young respondents expressed anxiety or avoidance toward death.
In South Korea, suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among people under 30.
In Japan, nearly 60% of citizens admit they have never spoken about death with family members.
So—what is death, in Asia?
Hospice care systems are growing but under-recognized; funeral culture modernizes yet remains stigmatized; school curricula across the region devote little to no space for discussing the end of life.
Yet silence has its cost. Collective grief online shows what words still cannot—our need to speak of death with honesty and care.
